This document explains the setup of the Anytone AT-578UVIII Plus radio and the Moblinkd TNC3. There isn’t a dedicated DATA port on the Anytone AT578VUII Plus radio, so a special cable must be used.
Anytone AT-578UVIII Plus Setup
- Obtain a cable to connect from the radio microphone jack to the modem
- Set radio squelch to none (0)
- Using the radio menu
- Select “Settings”
- Select “Radio”
- Select “Other function”
- Set SPKR option to MIC (not radio)
- Set HAND to VOLT-DET (not uart)
- Connect the radio and modem
Moblinkd TNC3 Setup
- Get Moblinkd app (Android® phone, iPad®, or computer)
- Start the app and connect to the modem
- Select audio out, change audio on the radio for the green bar with a little red at the end
- Select audio input
- Press transmit to verify the transmit light is on and the radio is normally on simplex
- Check KISS parameters and device info
This configuration may require more testing. Note that this procedure was tested using the Apple IOS and RadioMail Winlink App on an Apple iPad®.
